Hemiptera Pendant with 24k Keum-boo

$425.00

The Hemiptera bug is seen in the state of Missouri as well as other states.  They are commonly called shield bugs or“stink bugs”   This pendant is made with an ancient technique called chasing and repoussé.  The body of the bug is raised, or repoussé, creating the shapes of the wings and body of fine silver.   An ancient Korean metals technique called keum-boo has been used to fuse 24k yellow gold sheet on the wings.  The pendant hangs from a delicate sterling silver cable chain.

This piece should not be worn when applying perfumes/colognes, hair spray, lotions etc.  It should not be exposed to water or moisture since the sealant is a water based product.  I suggest wiping the necklace with a soft, cotton cloth upon removal from your neck.  Keeping the necklace in an airtight ziplock enclosure will deter patination or oxidation.  This will also keep the gold leaf from being marred or scratched.
