Hemiptera Pendant with Blue Topaz
Hemiptera Pendant with Blue Topaz
An ancient technique called chased and repoussé, creates this often seen bug called Hemiptera or Stink Bug/Shield Bug. The repoussé process raises and creates the wings and body of the fine silver Hemiptera (stink bug.) A lined texture enhances the wings. The insect is suspended from a 4mm blue topaz set in an 18k yg handmade bezel, attached to a hand forged silver branch with an 18” sterling silver cable chain.

This piece should not be worn when applying perfumes/colognes, hair spray, lotions etc. It should not be exposed to water or moisture since the sealant is a water based product. I suggest wiping the necklace with a soft, cotton cloth upon removal from your neck. Keeping the necklace in an airtight ziplock enclosure will deter patination or oxidation. This will also keep the gold leaf from being marred or scratched.
