Creating A Cuff Bracelet with a Rolling Mill Texture or Pattern
Participants should have some metal experience before signing up for this class. Please speak with Genevieve if you are interested but not sure if you qualify for the class.
DATE: September 27-27, 2024 TIME: 10AM - 5PM DAILY with a one hour lunch break LOCATION: GENEVIEVE FLYNN STUDIO, KANSAS CITY, MO
This class will be a two day session, a Friday and Saturday. Participants will learn about the use of the rolling mill and how to go about using it in their jewelry practice.
Students can expect to learn how to use the rolling mill, how to anneal metal with a torch, filing edges, forming the piece into a cuff bracelet and finishing
Students will need to bring the following materials to class:
Copper sheet / 1 - 12"x6" sheet of 18 gauge or 20 gauge.
1 - sheet of 22 gauge copper (this will be used to protect the rollers of the rolling mill
Brass Sheet / 20 gauge or 18 gauge sheet Sterling silver sheet can be ordered through Genevieve but would need to be done asap so she can get the appropriate size and gauge of silver You can certainly bring your own silver sheet but please make sure it is either 20 gauge or 18 gauge in thickness
Items that could possibly be used to imprint metal:
Screen wire, old doille, heavily textured paper, assorted wire, etc. Please know that anything that you want to use to roller print with will be destroyed so don't bring a cherished item in hopes of keeping it.
